Description

The Immunohematology course is an extension of theory presented in the Immunology Course and will transition into the major concepts and principles of Blood Banking. This course will explore basic genetics, blood group systems, and antibodies, with emphasis on ABO grouping, Rh typing, anitbody screening and indentification, Coombs, compatibility tesing, transfusion of blood componenets, component thearpy, and donor selection. PREQUISITE: MATH 101, HC114, PH104, PH110, PH111, PH125, PH 165, PH131, PH132, AND MLT205. GRADE REQUIREMENT: A MINIMUM GRADE OF C MUST BE EARNED IN THIS COURSE TO BE ELIGIBLE TO GRADUATE FROM THE MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM AND PROGRESS TO MLT CLINICAL PRACTICUM.
