WDT Foundation Scholarships Application - Spring 2026 Term

All degree-seeking students—including full-time, part-time, and international students—are eligible to apply.

Applications in-progress will not be saved.

To avoid losing your work, we recommend drafting your essay responses in a word processing program (e.g., Microsoft Word), then copying and pasting them into the application form.

The scholarship application deadline is Friday, October 31st, 2025, at 11:59 PM (MT)

For WDTC student ID number and student's email address questions: Call or email the WDTC Admissions Office at 605-718-2565 or Admissions@wdt.edu. After being accepted to the college, you will receive an email from the Admissions Office with your student ID number. Please check the email address that you put on the college application. If you have not applied to the college, apply at https://www.wdt.edu/apply/.

Important Notice for Scholarship Applicants:

• All communication regarding your scholarship application will be conducted via email. You are required to check your Western Dakota Technical College student email account daily to stay informed.
• If awarded a scholarship, you must submit a thank you letter within two weeks of receiving your award notification.
• Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded. Failure to meet this requirement may result in forfeiture of the scholarship.

Some scholarships may give preference to students with certain qualifications. Please answer the following inquiries:

4. Are you a Veteran or spouse/dependent/widow/widower of a Veteran?

Personal Statement

Please tell us why in detail you chose your career field as your professional vocation and how you plan to contribute to this career field?

You can include hobbies, job experiences, inspiring people, life experiences, and prior knowledge you have about your career field to help explain your reasoning. (approx. 500 - 700 words).

Leadership Skills

Describe a challenge you have faced, the steps you completed to overcome it, and how you will apply what you learned from the challenge going forward. 

You can draw from experiences such as a conflict with a classmate or co-worker, a personal life experience, or a time you struggled to learn something new.  Include any interactions you had with others or other leadership skills you used to help arrive at a resolution. (approx. 500 - 700 words)

Certification and Release

1. I attest that the information included in this application is true and accurate.
2. I give permission for Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) and the WDT Foundation to share with each other any relevant information necessary to consider my scholarship application including any academic transcripts from WDT or any other school or degree program, any and all financial aid information, any other relevant information known to the College or Foundation.
3. I give permission for Western Dakota Technical College and the WDT Foundation to release pertinent information to grant providers from which I receive a grant-based scholarship.
4. I understand that the sole use of the information is to determine eligibility for scholarships and to evaluate the Scholarship Program.
5. I further understand that all representatives of WDTC and the WDT Foundation will maintain confidentiality of this information consistent with applicable laws and policies.
6. If awarded a scholarship, I agree to help the WDT Foundation, and the College thank scholarship donors by submitting a thank you letter to the donor to be used in a thank you package to Foundation@wdt.edu within 2 weeks after receiving an award notification email.
7. I understand that if I receive a scholarship award, it is intended to be used in the semester(s) for which it was awarded. If I receive a scholarship and I no longer meet the scholarship's eligibility requirements and/or I am not enrolled in the semester(s) for which the scholarship was awarded, I may be required to forfeit the scholarship for that semester(s) it was awarded and those funds may no longer be available to me.
8. I understand that if I receive a scholarship award, I must accept the scholarship and complete the thank you letter requirement before any scholarship funds will be posted to my account. If I do not complete this acceptance process by a provided deadline, I will forfeit the scholarship for the academic year.
